The perfect bearded dragon cage

When building a home, many factors are taken into consideration, and the same goes for our pet's home, especially for our bearded dragon. It is crucial to make their enclosure as natural as possible to ensure their comfort.

The most important factor to consider is the size of the enclosure, which depends on the age and size of the dragon. For baby dragons, a 15-gallon or 60-liter enclosure is appropriate, but for juveniles or adults, a 30 to 50-gallon or 200 to 250-liter enclosure is more suitable.

An enclosure that is too large for a baby dragon could result in it starving to death, as it will not be able to catch its food, while an adult in a small enclosure will become fat and lazy and suffer from stress due to lack of exercise and hiding spots.

Furnishing the enclosure is also essential to ensure that the dragon gets enough exercise and has a place to hide and relax. A sturdy hide box and climbing structures can be purchased from a pet shop, but ordinary household items such as pieces of wood can also be used to make these items.

It is important to disinfect all pieces that will be introduced into the enclosure, including those purchased and collected, using a 10% bleach solution to kill any parasites.

The substrate or bedding should be made of organic material that the bearded dragon cannot eat or ingest, such as a kitchen towel or newspaper.
